JEHOVAH-SHALOM

shalom means peace

there are 2 meanings to it

peace - god is our peace. he gives us peace

in the old testament the peace offering is much talked about in Leviticus

people had appease the lord's displeasure by offering peace offerings

now in new testament time we do not need to offer peace offerings anymore cos jesus had died on the cross

how do i respond to this?

have i forgotten that jesus had made peace for us?

does my heart overwhelm with gratitude?

let me give thanks for the peace offering!!

2nd kind of peace

Is 48:18

Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Mal 2:5

My covenant was with him, one of life and peace

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Rom 14:17
the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Gal 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

In the old testament, peace is often used as an adjective to describe the type of offering.

peace is something that we want to give god so that we can approach him

in the new testamnt, peace is often used as a noun.

peace has become something that god gives us.

peace has become fruit of the spirit and a quality in our lives that god has given us.

the meaning of peace is different in the old and new testament

Peace to appease god
Peace to bless man

the above sums up my bible study
