by faith not works (v2)

30What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. 32Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone." 33As it is written:
"See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.

romans 9

a new humility comes when we realise that all is by faith and nothing by works. even if a person has committed the worst of sins, or if he has not done a good job in any thing, he is the same as he who has 'performed' better.

for the past two days, god has been speaking to me about faith and not works. we have to move away from performace to faith. as long as one believes in god, he is deemed worthly in god's sight as he is covered by the blood of the lamb.

amen.

all by faith, none by works

That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. 32Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. Romans 9

The verse above is a humbling one. it reminds me that all that we have is a result of our faith in Jesus Christ.

Nothing that we are and have is from our own efforts.

yes this includes our work, our talents, our families, our growth ....

all glory to God.

let us give all glory to Him and not take any for ourselves. For His name alone is glorious and mighty.

let his name be exalted and ours decrease.

he uses the lowly.

thank you jesus for all that you have given us so freely.
- the death on the cross
- the power of the spirit
- the grace to see us thru all things

thank you.

yes there is much to rejoice in and give thanks for.

amen
