Called to Jesus

Romans 12

We are called to be a living sacrifice.

Present our bodies to god, holy and acceptable.

When we present a trophy to someone, the trophy becomes the person’s.

When we present our bodies to god, we become his.

The main way to become His is to transform our minds.

How do we do it?

By meditating on His word daily. Keep it in our hears.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son

 Romans 8:28

God called us to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

How can this happen?

By abiding in the presence of god.

God says he is the vine and we are the branches. Daily, we need to spend undisrupted time in his presence so that we can be conform to his image.

Meditate on his word

And abide in his presence

Help me Jesus to meditate on your word and help me lord to abide in your presence!

Call to repentance

The Call to Salvation…First and foremost a call to Jesus (Matt. 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:32, Acts 2:39, Romans 1:5–6, etc.).
 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’^[b] For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”<sup>[c]

⁵ Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, ⁶ among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

Response

God has called us to bring sinners to repentance. This is our primary calling because this is Jesus' primary calling as Christ.

Let me examine my own life. How much does my life reflect this calling?

Lord forgive me that I have not been focused on this calling. Consume me once again with the heartbeat for souls - that I may live out your calling upon me.

Bible Verse of the Day:

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, ¹⁸ the eyes of your understanding^[c] being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 
Eph 1:17-19

There are so many things to unpack in this powerful verse.

i have the following questions:

what does the hope of his calling exactly refer to?
the general calling refers to the great comission - anything else?
the specific calling to each child of god - do we know? what has god called me to do?

the riches of the glory of his inheritance - what is the inheritance god has for us?

in what ways do our lives show his power toward us?

so much to think but so little time.

let me do only one question.

The Call to Salvation…

The Call to Full-Time Vocational Ministry…

Consider how these people were called:

• Moses called from a burning bush (Exodus 3)
• Joshua appointed by God (Joshua 1:1–9)
• Isaiah called in a vision (Isai 6)
• Nehemiah (chapter 1) called through distressing news
• Barnabas sent by Jerusalem church to Antioch (Acts 11:22)
• Jeremiah called from mother's womb (Jeremiah 1:4–10)
• Apostles in Mathew 4:19; 9:9, Mark 1:17
• Paul called dramatically (Romans 1:1, 1:Corinthians 1:1, Galatians 1:15)

The Call to a Specific Task…

• Peter and John sent by Jerusalem church to investigate what was happening in Samaria under Philip's ministry (Acts 8:14)
• Barnabas sent from Jerusalem to Antioch to follow up on the church that had been planted there (Acts 11:22)

continue tomorrow.... wow what a calling we have!

Control the Tongue

God spoke about the tongue – repeatedly and loudly!

It is an area I have to watch out for.

 The quiet words of the wise are more effective than the ranting of a king of fools ( eccl 9:17)

 Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions. (prv 18:2)

The mouths of fools are their undoing,
and their lips are a snare to their very lives. (prv 18:7)

To answer before listening—
that is folly and shame. (prv 18:13)

²⁹ Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Eph 4:29)

Lord teach me to be gracious with my words and self controlled with my toungue.

By your grace lord . mould me to become like you.

jesus i pray for ph and i that we will focus our attention on you

teach us to read your word and abide in your presence daily

help us not to be distracted by this life on earth but teach us to be led by the holy spirit

jesus i pray for my children that they will experience you they will love you and obey you in their lives

i submit myself to you, acknoledging that i am weak in many areas and i need you to change from the inside out

i pray for josef that he will learn to be focused in the things that he does. teach him that fuzzy focus leads to fuzzy results.

you have given him great potential. develope him god in your own ways

i surrender josef into your hands and ask that you mould him into the young man you have in mind
i put him in your mighty hands and pray that josef will live out the destiny you have for him

let him not be swayed from left to right but let his eyes and mind always be focsued on you

i pray for deborah that she will deepen in her knowledge and love for you

deepen her worship for jesus and let her eyes see you

let her experience the power of the hs working in her life

always let her walk humbly before the lord cos the lord exalts the humble but brings down the arrogant

let her give thanks and acknowledge that god is the giver of all her talents and give her the desire to use all she is to serve you

i pray for matthias that he will love and know jesus. let his heart be captivated by the love of god. protect him from virusses and i pray for complete healing for his phlegm.

let his eyes see god.

i pray for sister that she will be encouraged in her faith in god.

how do i practice apos faith in my life?

by communing in god

but in my life i am distracted by so many things in life?

teach me jesus what it means to commune in you.

it is not about me rising up, it is about you raising me up in faith

teach me lord to commune in you

lord teach me to release my expectations to you

you are an almighty god yet you come down and raise us up

teach me to be the same

help me to be patient with those who are slow mentally, who never can seem to learn

teach me to be gracious

while i demand from myself teach me to give others space.

they will know who you are and follow you all the days of their life

while i prepare them academically enable me to prepare them for life

use me to teach them what it means to walk this life with jesus

when i am gone may my children know how to walk with jesus

i put them in your hands and i pray that they will have an intensely personal relationship with you

let them live out their destiny in you dear jesus
use me lord to touch the many young lives that you have put into my path.

use me to reach out to them in love and truth

i plead the blood of christ over my family even as we desire to be used by you

let there be more communication and open physical touch between us

let there be more affection between us

we are life partners and not simply work partners

let us travel this life in love and purpose.

bind us in your love and unite us in your love

i pray for the young ones who have shown interest in going to the missions carnival. i pray that you will open the door for the young children who have shown interest in going. open the door so that the young ones can go to church and even be ushered into your presence.

holy spirit touch them and from them raise up a generation of warriors who love and serve you

god wants us to hear and obey him

“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”Exodus 15:25-27

Psalm 103:3Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases

Psalm 147:3He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds

.Isaiah 30:26Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun will be sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day that the LORD binds up the bruise of His people And heals the stroke of their wound.

jesus loves us. he gives us freely his life. what does he expect of us? not our labour or works but as in exodus 15, our commitment to hear and obey his voice, to do what is right in his eyes. to know his commandments and obey them

in summary god wants us to hear and obey him. our obedience results in a righteous life before him and this pleases him.

god i pray for ph josef deborah matthias sister stef and me that we will be committed to hear your voice. still our spirits to hear your voice through your word and the holy spirit. teach us to obey you and do what is right in your eyes.

teach us too your commandments and we know them, let us obey them

jesus you have told me to pray more and i am going to pray according to the bible verses that i study. i think this is the most powerful way to engage in prayer.

teach me and lead me on in my prayer life lord

jesus not only heals us physically, he also heals our broken heart.

i pray for ph specifically in this area.

jesus i pray that you will heal the brokeness in ph heart. make it whole and tender once again. overflow with your love and tenderness.

father let ph relate with you as a father would with his son. he has never understood what it means to relate with you. he has always known as from a very intellectual point of view.

break through into his heart that intimacy may flow in and he may be healed.

you heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds.

bind up the bruise in ph heart that he may feel once again. that he may have your heartbeat once again too.
